College of Social Sciences and Humanities has organised student visit to Roman Catherine Visually Impaired School, Chillimbi, Mangalore, Inclusive Education Resource Centre, Gandhi Nagar School, Lady Hill, Mangalore and Prabhat Labour Net (Skill Development Centre), Poonja Building, Lalbagh, Mangalore on 22nd January, 2021 on the occasion of Orientation Programme held between 18th-23rd January, 2021. 13 students participated in the visit and interacted with the officials about the working of the centre.

ORIENTATION ON COUNSELLING BY DR. SUPHALA KOTIAN

 

College of Social Sciences and Humanities have organised orientation programme to first year M.S.W/M.Sc students on "Counselling and its significance in the present days" on 23rd January, 2021 at 10.00 a.m. Dr. Suphala Kotian, Research Professor, Srinivas University was the resource person for the session who made the students to participate in the Mock Counselling Session. 13 Students actively participated in the session and learnt about counselling and its implications in the Social Work Profession.

LECTURE ON PREPARING FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS BY MR. MADHU K.S.

 

College of Social Sciences and Humanities has organised guest lecture on "How to prepare for Civil Service Examination" to first year students of M.S.W./M.Sc courses on 22nd January, 2021 at 9.30 a.m. in the City Campus, Pandeshwar. Mr. Madhu K.S., Enforcement Officer, Mangaluru and Hubli Region, Government of India was the resource person. The Students were oriented on aspiring civil service as their career, career prospects in HR field etc. The speaker him self being the alumni of the University has inspired students by sharing his own life journey to secure good position in Civil Service. 13 students attended the programme and interacted with the resource person.  

VISIT TO PASCHIM REHAB CENTRE, SOMESHWARA, MANGALORE

College of Social Sciences and Humanities have organised an agency visit for the first year M.S.W./M.Sc students to Paschim Rehab centre, Someshwara, Mangaluru on 21st January, 2021 during the occasion of orientation programme scheduled by the college between 18-23rd January, 2021.  The Nurse and Social Worker working in the center has oriented students on Admission procedure, case history collection, rapport building, intervention adopted, treatments methods and other facilities provided to the residents etc. The residents and students have also participated in the group activities such as singing songs, greetings etc. The center is taking care of almost more than 110 residents and providing proper care of them. 13 Students participated in the visit. Prof. Pradeep M.D. accompanied the students. 

  

VISIT TO SRINIVAS HOSPITAL AND RESEARCH CENTRE, MUKKA

College of Social Sciences and Humanities has organised Orientation Programme for the First year students of both M.S.W/M.Sc students from 18th -23rd, January, 2021. During the occasion an official visit was organised to Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, Surathkal, D.K. on 21st January, 2021. The students were guided by Mr. Pratheen and Team, Medical Social Workers of the Hospital on the organisation structure, departments, services offered etc. The students visited reception, pharmacy, physiotherapy, blood bank, psychiatric departments and professionals interacted with the students and oriented students about the 'Role of Social Workers and Counsellors in the Hospital Set up". 13 Students particiapted in the visit and found to be very interactive and useful.
