Expert Talk on Elderly Abuse and Its Prevention by Mrs. Sulekaha K

 

Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Gerontological Social Work Forum has organised expert talk on the topic 'Elderly Abuse and Its Prevention' by Mrs. Sulekah K, Psychiatric Social Worker and Manager, Elderly Help Line, Bangalore. The online meet was presided over by Dr. Laveena D Mello, Dean of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Pradeep M.D. Coordinator, Gerontological Social Work Forum, Prof. Devasenan, Dean Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, Ms. Chippy Sebastian, Social Worker, Nightingales Medical Trust, bengaluru. Students Ms. Sanjana has invoked the blessings of the almighty, The Master of Ceremany was performed by Ms. Shreenidhi Nayak and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Jeevan. Almost 87 students from Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities and Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Research Scholars from Psychology discipline have attended the event.  

About the Resource Person: Sulekha .K is a Psychiatric Social Worker based in Bengaluru with over 27 years of working experience as counselor, counseling supervisor , trainer and experience in managing  different projects . Currently working at Elders Helpline Line -1090 as a Manager, Elders Helpline is established in 2002, it’s a project of the Bengaluru City Police and Nightingales Medical Trust an NGO with a long association and experience in caring for elders. Qualified and committed social workers, counselors, dutiful police and service – minded volunteers render a variety of reliable services that could be utilized by elders. All the services of the helpline are rendered free .

WORKSHOP ON USAGE OF SPSS On 23-06-2022

The Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities have organized hand on training on usage of SPSS software for data analysis on 23rd June, 2022. Prof. Kotian, Statistician and Research Professor, Srinivas University was the resource person. 15 students from second year MSW have participated in the training programme.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION @ D.K.Z.P.H.Primary School, Chelairu.

 

Chelairu, 21st June, 2022:  

Srinivas University Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Pandeshwar campus under Unnat Bharath Abhiyan Forum, Srinivas Institute of Rural Reconstruction Agency (SIRRA), and NSS conducted International Yoga Day Celebration at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu on 21st June 2022. The chief guest Chelairu GP PDO K. Nithyananda address the gathering and explained the importance of Yoga in everyone's life.  Education Department of Mangalore Block Resource Person Nagaraj M. explained how yoga is connected to our daily life and our health. Requested students to continue yoga in their daily life not keep it for only yoga day. Head Mistress of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu Krishnaveni presided over the function. Resource Person, Yoga Instructor, and PRO of Komalsparsh Counselling Centre Sunitha Nayak conducted Yoga sessions for students. Srinivas University SIRRA Co-Ordinator Dr.Vidya N., Faculty Convenor of the programme and Assistant Professor of ISSH Prof. Joyson P. Cardoza, Srinivas University ISSH BA Journalism and Mass communication lecturer Prof. Sushmitha, teachers of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School Chelairu, MSW & BSW Students of Srinivas University ISSH, students of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Higher Primary School, Chelairu actively participated in Yoga day celebration. Student Prajna welcome the gathering. Vote of thanks was delivered by Shreyas Shenoy and Raju was the mc for the programme.

Work shop on FOTOGRAFIE

Mangalore, June 11, 2022 : Srinivas University, city campus, Pandeshwara, under the Institute of social sciences and humanities, department of BA Journalism and Mass Communication organized one day workshop on Photography  by Akshay Rai , Lecturer in Alvas College, Moodbidire. In the workshop, he started first with a practical exercise which would make students understand the basics well. Then he went in detail about shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Briefed about the angles where we can get a good shot and what has to be avoided in frame. Thought  different kind of photography with different kind of lens. In the afternoon session, He explained the the use of gimbal to get the best shots and how it is been used to make  video in all angles. Also made sure students get to know about it practically by working with it.  He assigned task to students to explore their campus by clicking few shots with their phones and cameras which he provided and made sure each one participated. Students were enthusiastic throughout the workshop.  The president of this program was Dr. Laveena D'Mello, Dean of Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Workshop was coordinated by Asst Prof. Shreeraj S. Acharya. Dr. Pradeep MD, Asst. professors Sushmitha K, Jayson Cardoza, Harisoorya and Students of 1st and 2nd year BA Journalism and Mass Communication, Bachelors of social work , Master of Social work and other Colleges  students were present.
