Industrial Visit Report - GuruCharan Industries, Baikampady, Mangalore

An industrial visit was organised for the students of Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) at GuruCharan Industries, Baikampady, Mangalore. This visit aimed to give students a practical perspective on the industrial environment and its operations. The visit was a part of the academic curriculum, designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. A total of 45 students participated in this visit. The visit was organized under the guidance and supervision of: Dr. Venkatesh Amin, Dean of IMC, Prof. Joyson, Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, IMC, Dr. Laveena Dmello, Professor of SSH, IMC &  Dr. Vidya N., Associate Professor of SSH, IMC

Objectives of the Visit

The primary objectives of the industrial visit were:

1. To provide students with a practical perspective on the world of work.

2. To expose students to the functioning and operations of an industry.

3. To enhance students' understanding of the industrial environment.

4. To provide a learning experience that goes beyond the academic curriculum.

Details of the Visit

Departure and Arrival

The students and faculty members departed from the institute premises early in the morning and reached GuruCharan Industries in Baikampady, Mangalore, by 10:00 AM.

Welcome and Introduction

Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by the management and staff of GuruCharan Industries. A brief introduction about the industry, its history, and its operations was given by the host.

Tour of the Facility

The visit included a comprehensive tour of the facility, where the students had the opportunity to observe various processes and operations. The tour covered the following areas:

1. Manufacturing Units: Students observed the production processes and machinery used in the manufacturing units.

2. Quality Control Department: An explanation of the quality control measures and procedures followed to ensure the quality of the products.

Interactive Session

An interactive session was conducted where students could ask questions and clarify their doubts about the industry and its operations. The management and staff of GuruCharan Industries were very supportive and answered all queries in detail.

Learning Outcomes

The students gained valuable insights into:

1. The practical application of their academic knowledge in a real-world setting.

2. The functioning and operations of an industrial setup.

Conclusion

The industrial visit to GuruCharan Industries was a great success. It provided the students with a memorable and enriching learning experience.
