PARTICIPATORY RURAL APPRISAL

 

On November 13th, 2024, the Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at Srinivas University in Mangalore conducted an insightful guest talk for MSW (Master of Social Work) students. The session was graced by Prof. Deepika sanil and Prof.Ramya. B who shared valuable insights on the topic-Participatory Rural Appraisal, in that resource persons has explained about Participatory Rural Appraisal with regards to social work. The session began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the esteemed speaker. Prof. Deepika and Prof.Ramya B emphasized the participatory leadership action with regards to participatory rural appraisal. Her speech was followed by an interactive activity that allowed students to engage in practical exercises designed to enhance their practical social work activities Activities conducted related to Social mapping, Trans analysis and wealth analysis, which encouraged active participation and teamwork. Throughout the session, students were highly engaged, contributing to discussions and activities that deepened their understanding of how communication skills can be applied across various professional contexts. The session was compered by Ms. Bhoomika, delivered the welcome speech by Ms. Rakshitha saliyan Prayer by Ms. Nidhi and vote of thamks by Ms. Sushmitha. and bringing the event to a meaningful close. The entire guest talk provided MSW students with valuable insights into the importance of communication in building both professional relationships and personal development. This enriching experience reinforced the importance of social work as an essential tool for success in the dynamic and evolving professional world. The program has been organized under the guidance of Dr. Venketesh S Amin, Dean-IMC and Prof.Joyson, Head of the department. Prof Ranjith Bhat, were present.

ENHANCING THE SKILL OF COMMUNICATION


On November 12th, 2024, the Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities at Srinivas University in Mangalore conducted an insightful guest talk for MSW (Master of Social Work) students. The program has been organized under the guidance of Dr. Venketesh S Amin, Dean-IMC and Prof.Joyson, Head of the department, Prof Ranjith Bhat, Dr. Lavenna DNello and Dr. Vidya. The session was graced by Prof. Deepak J from IMC, who shared valuable insights on the significance of communication skills in the professional world. The session began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the esteemed speaker. Prof. Deepak emphasized the critical role that strong communication skills play in personal and professional development. His speech was followed by an interactive activity that allowed students to engage in practical exercises designed to enhance their communication abilities. These activities included a Robotic Command Role Play and a Strategic Building Game, which encouraged active participation and teamwork. Throughout the session, students were highly engaged, contributing to discussions and activities that deepened their understanding of how communication skills can be applied across various professional contexts. The session was compered by Ms. Bhoomika, delivered the welcome speech by Mr. Allen, Prayer by Mr. Nithin and vote of thamks by Ms. Divyashree. and bringing the event to a meaningful close. DEVELOPING COMMUNICATION SKILLS

 

On November 7, 2024, Srinivas University’s Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities in Mangalore organized an enriching general interaction session for MSW (Master of Social Work) students. The session featured with a warm welcome and introduction to Dr. Venkatesh S. Amin, the Dean of the Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), who delivered an insightful speech on the importance of effective communication in the professional world. He emphasized the need for developing strong communication skills and also conducted an interactive activity that engaged the students in skill-building exercises. The session was highly interactive, with students participating actively in discussions and activities that enhanced their understanding of communication skills and their application in various contexts. The event was organized under the guidence of Prof. Joyson, Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities. Prof. Ranjith Bhat were also present to support the event. The event was compered with great poise by Ms. Thripthi, who not only delivered the welcome speech but also proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the session to a gracious close. PR APPLICATION IN SOCIAL WORK

 

Srinivas University, Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities in Mangalore organized a guest talk on "PR Application in Social Work" on 6th November 2024 for MSW students.

The session commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of Honorable Registrar Development, Dr. Ajay Kumar, who gave a speech on how Public Relations (PR) can be applied in social work. Sir also discussed the various techniques used in social work and shared his experiences in the PR field. The session was interactive, allowing students to engage and gain insights into the practical applications of PR in the social work profession.

The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Venkatesh S. Amin, Dean of the Institute of Management and Commerce, and coordinated by Prof. Joyson, Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, IMC. Dr. Laveena DMello, Professor, Dr. Vidya N, Associate Professor, and Prof. Ranjith Bhat were present.  The event was masterfully compered by Ms. Thripthi, with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Namitha and a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Afra.



















"Introduction to Gerontological Social Work" Alumni Guest Talk on Tuesday, Nov 5, 2024,

 

Mangalore: Srinivas University, Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities organized an "Introduction to Gerontological Social Work" Alumni Guest Talk on Tuesday, Nov 5, 2024, at Srinivas University City Campus, Pandeshwara. The event featured Mr. Jeevan, Project Coordinator of "SAARTHAK," a community-based initiative for the mental well-being of the elderly by Help Age India, in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, as the resource person. The Alumni guest talk included sessions on challenges faced in the workplace and how to build a career after completing MSW. This program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Venkatesh S. Amin, Dean, Institute of Management and Commerce, and Prof. Joyson Cardoza, HOD, SSH-IMC. Dr. Laveena DMello, Professor, Dr. Vidya N, Associate Professor, and Prof. Ranjith Bhat were present. Student Namitha welcomed the gathering, Afra proposed the vote of thanks, and Rakshitha compered the event.

FUN ART COMPETITION

On July 29, 2024, the Institute of Management and Commerce, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, organized a series of competitions for BSW and MSW students, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. Among these competitions was a fun art contest that saw enthusiastic participation from Four teams. The event was meticulously organized under the expert guidance of Dr. Venkatesh Amin, Dean of IMC, and supported by Prof. Joyson, Head of the Department of SSH at IMC. The artworks were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Prof. Yashashwi A. Ail, Assistant Professor, and Prof. Archana, Assistant Professor, both esteemed Institute of Management and Commerce faculty members. Their discerning eyes and academic experience ensured a fair and insightful judgment of the creative works presented by the students.
