3RD-OCT-2026-CLASS ACTIVITY-CLASS ACTIVITY-TRUST BEYOND SIGHT

 A team-building class activity titled *“Trust Beyond Sight”* was conducted by *Dr. Stutima Basistha* on 3rd October 2026. The activity involved students participating in various tasks while being *blindfolded*, requiring them to depend on their teammates for guidance and support. The activity aimed to develop *trust, effective communication, cooperation, coordination and problem-solving skills* among students. Through the tasks, students experienced the importance of listening carefully, communicating clearly and supporting one another to achieve a common goaThe activity was engaging and enjoyable while providing students with valuable practical learning about *teamwork and interpersonal re.




1ST-OCT-2026-PARIVAR OLD AGE HOME VISIT

Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities (MSW), Institute of Management and Commerce, Srinivas University, organized a Geriatric Day Celebration on 1st October 2026 at Parivar Old Age Home, Surathkal, Mangaluru, under the theme “Celebrating Age, Sharing Joy.” The program commenced at 10.00 a.m. and concluded at 1.00 p.m.The programme began with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address by the MSW students. The event aimed to promote the health, well-being, dignity, and happiness of senior citizens through health awareness, medical screening, recreational activities, and cultural interactions.As part of the programme, Dr. Daryl from the Department of General Medicine, Srinivas Hospital, delivered awareness talks to the inmates on healthy ageing, healthcare, and the importance of maintaining good health. Dr. Shlok from the Department of ENT and Dr. Daryl  from Srinivas Hospital also conducted health screenings for the inmates and provided general health check-ups.The MSW students organised an engaging cultural programme, presenting various performances that brought joy and entertainment to the senior citizens. Spot games and recreational activities were also conducted, encouraging the inmates to participate enthusiastically. The interaction between the students and the senior citizens created a warm and joyful atmosphere, with both groups actively participating and enjoying the activities.As a gesture of love and care, the students distributed sweets and fruits to the inmates. The students also contributed essential items to the old age home as a token of their love and support. These contributions reflected the spirit of compassion, social responsibility, and community service among the students.The programme was coordinated by Prof. Joyson Cardoza, Head of the Department, Dr. Laveena Dmello, Dr. Stutima Basistha, and Prof. Ranjith Bhat, faculty members of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities (MSW). Ms. Kavyashree, a staff member, was also present and actively supported the programme.The Geriatric Day Celebration was a meaningful and enriching experience for both the senior citizens and the MSW students. The programme provided an opportunity for students to interact with older adults, understand their emotional and social needs, and experience the importance of empathy, companionship, and care in geriatric social work.Overall, the program was successfully conducted, spreading happiness, fostering intergenerational bonding, and reaffirming the importance of respecting, caring for, and supporting senior citizens in society.
