Field Work Report: Cheliaru Panchayat

Date: July 29, 2025

Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Institute of Management and Commerce, Srinivas University. As part of our fieldwork activities, we visited Cheliaru Panchayat and engaged in an awareness initiative on malaria and larval prevention. During the visit, we had the opportunity to interact with Ms. Parvathi, the local ASHA worker, and accompanied her on home visits to educate residents about preventive measures and the significance of maintaining hygienic surroundings.

This field experience provided valuable insights into the pivotal role ASHA workers play in grassroots health promotion and disease prevention. Moreover, it emphasized the effectiveness of direct community engagement in spreading health awareness. The knowledge and exposure gained through this activity will significantly contribute to our academic growth and enhance our preparedness for future professional roles in the field of social work and public health.
