Mangaluru, Jan 25:
To mark National Voters’ Day, a district-level padyatra was organized on Sunday by the NSS Cell of Srinivas University and Srinivas Hospital, in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and MY Bharat, Dakshina Kannada.
The rally commenced from Srinivas University, Pandeshwar, and concluded at Town Hall, Mangaluru, with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of voting, particularly among the youth. A large number of students from various institutions under Srinivas University participated enthusiastically, carrying placards and raising slogans that promoted democratic values and voter awareness.
A brief programme was held at Town Hall, beginning with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event highlighted the significance of National Voters’ Day and emphasized the crucial role of voters in strengthening democracy.
The programme was inaugurated by Captain Mahesh Holla, Executive Officer, Taluk Panchayat, Mangaluru. The Chief Guest, Ullas K. T. K., District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Dakshina Kannada, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, addressed the gathering. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Sheshappa Amin, NSS Programme Coordinator, Mangalore University; Jagadeesh K., MY Bharat, Dakshina Kannada; Dr. Padmanabhan, Dean, Institute of Education, Srinivas University; Dr. Venkatesh S. Amin, Dean, Institute of Management and Commerce; Prof. Prashanth Prabhu, Dean, Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism; and Prof. Joyson Prenky Cardoza, NSS Coordinator, Srinivas University, along with all NSS Programme Officers of the university.
The speakers stressed the importance of active voter participation and encouraged young citizens to exercise their democratic rights responsibly.
NSS Coordinator Prof. Joyson Prenky Cardoza delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded successfully with a strong message on democratic responsibility and the power of the vote.
