The MSW students of Srinivas University, along with faculty members Dr. Laveena D’Mello and Prof. Ranjith Bhat, participated in the World Alzheimer’s Day 2026 programme organised by PAGE on 22 September 2026 at Town Hall, Mangaluru. A total of 21 MSW students and two faculty members attended the programme.The programme focused on creating awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, geriatric care, and the importance of dignity and well-being of senior citizens. Senior citizens from various NGOs actively participated and showcased their talents through songs, dances, and skits.The programme provided MSW students with valuable exposure to geriatric social work, dementia awareness, active ageing, social inclusion, and community-based support for older persons. It also encouraged interaction and cultural exchange among students and senior citizens.Overall, the programme was informative, engaging, and meaningful, highlighting the importance of building a supportive and dementi-friendly society that respects and promotes the dignity and quality of life of older persons.
