27th & 30th May-2026-2 Days Workshop-1st Year MSW-FROM MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY TO CHI-SQUARE ANALYSIS.

Department of social science and humanities conducted a two-day workshop titled "Empowering Students with Essential Statistical Knowledge and Research Skills" was organized for the First Year Master of Social Work (MSW) students under the guidence of dean-IMC-Dr.Venkatesh S Amin on 27th and 30th May 2026. Prof.Joyson Prenky Cardoza, Dr.Stuitima basista, and Prof.Ranjith bhat were present during the workshop. The host for workshop  Prof. Vinutha H. K. on the topic “From Measures of Central Tendency to Chi-Square Analysis.” The primary objective of the workshop was to equip students with fundamental statistical concepts and research skills essential for academic and professional social work practice. During the sessions, Prof. Vinutha H. K. provided comprehensive insights into measures of central tendency, including mean, median, and mode, and explained their significance in data analysis and interpretation. The workshop further covered the concepts of data organization, presentation, and descriptive statistics, enabling students to understand the practical applications of statistical tools in research. Special emphasis was given to inferential statistics, particularly the Chi-Square test, where students learned its purpose, assumptions, calculation procedures, and interpretation of results. Interactive discussions, practical examples, and hands-on exercises enhanced students’ understanding of statistical analysis and its relevance in social science research. The workshop successfully strengthened the participants’ analytical abilities, improved their confidence in handling research data, and motivated them to apply statistical techniques effectively in their future research projects. The students actively participated throughout the sessions and expressed appreciation for the practical and engaging learning experience.
